 — A safer way to play

Agency: Open Creates
Scope: Design, Motion

The Challenge
Gaming is a central part of childhood for the majority of UK children, yet the spaces they play in are increasingly shaped by online risk. The challenge was to introduce safeguarding without undermining the joy, creativity, and social connection that gaming provides — speaking to children and adults alike without fear-based messaging or didactic tone.

The Response
Working with Open Creates, I designed a motion-led showreel to launch the Game Safe Festival. The film captures the energy and immersion of gaming culture while quietly embedding messages of protection and care. Through an inclusive, child-centred visual language and a rhythm driven by play rather than warning, the work reframes online safety as something that supports enjoyment — not restricts it — positioning safeguarding as a shared responsibility across parents, platforms, and communities.
